The best blogging platform on the planet
WordPress is probably the most elegant and professional blogging platform out there. If you want to get started in blogging, you really can't make a much better choice.
Although it was overshadowed for many years by Google's Blogger, WordPress has now become much more user friendly and offers far more customization, publishing control and just plain good looks than the former does.
WordPress is very much a community driven project with many of the thousands of themes available developed by enthusiastic users.
The community support forums are superb and with each release, WordPress has got better and better.
To setup your own WordPress blog, you'll need a server to upload WordPress to.
Alternatively, you can use Wordpress. com's own hosted blogging service which does all the hard work for you without the need for your own server.
However, doing it this way doesn't give you as much control over your blog - you can't use Google ads on a WordPress. com hosted blog for example.
Everything you do in WordPress is done via the Dashboard which is intuitively laid out. From here you can change themes, edit and manage comments and of course, write blog posts.
Adding multimedia content is made a breeze thanks to YouTube integration which simply requires you to enter the link of your video to embed it in your blog.
The only problems you might have is when embedding video from lesser known video sites and media outlets as WordPress can be quite fussy when it comes to video.
One of WordPress's strongest features is the ability to add plugins. These range from the bullet proof Akismet spam filter to stop your blog collecting spam comments to comment subscriptions and stat tracking plug-ins.
Other WordPress plug-ins and themes to download
If you are interested in other themes and plug-ins, we recommend you to try these ones:
- Screenr: A multi-use full-screen theme for WordPress.
- Houzez: Theme for real estate agents and companies.
- Jetpack: A powerful plugin to manage your entire WP website.
- Cool Timeline Pro: An advanced WordPress timeline plugin that showcases your life and your company's history timeline.

It's just like the WordPress.com backoffice — but runs as a native app! Very useful if you really don't want to open a heavy, power-hungry browser just to write an article or three.

MoreHello
I seriously cannot live without this plugin, as it makes the sites I build perform to my expectations, instead of slowly crawling. And yes, I think every site should be cached to get the maximum performance for each and every user, not just when you start hitting social sites. If you would like see more cool word press plug in then have a look here.

MoreThis needs a much more user friendly install process..
The documentation is also very non helpful, most convoluted Mac install Ive ever seen!!!

WordPants 3.1.
MoreThis has gotta be the most user-unfriendly bit of software I've seen yet. It is entirely possible I just don't understand what on earth it's supposed to do, but then it doesn't explain anything about itself either.
Nobody wants to have to be able to read html or be a programmer to be able to install a bit of software, especially Mac users. We just want to click on a downloaded app that happily puts itself in the right place and unpacks itself ready to use when you click on the icon.
This thing downloads, unzips and then... you're on your own. It's like being sent a p.c in parts in a box with a note that says "you know how to put this thing together right". Well.... no, no I don't.

Re: Download Wordpress to iMac.
MoreKeith, I've checked the download and it's working correctly. It sounds like maybe you have an ad-blocking application or plugin blocking downloads. Can you download other application from Softonic?
